Community Training & Support

Linwood Ambulance provides various levels of trainings and certifications to support the local Lincoln and Woodstock NH communities. This includes CPR and AED training, first aid, stop-the-bleed, as well as other special trainings available upon request.

CPR & AED

Training in the proper use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), and the lifesaving skill of CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation).

Receive a 2-year certification card upon completion. This class at our training center is $50.00.

Stop The Bleed

This is a new class that focuses on the control of bleeding. Learn the basics of bleeding control and the use of first aid materials and tourniquets to control severe bleeding due to a traumatic injury.

Heartsaver First Aid

Heartsaver First Aid is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. This is a hands on class with practice session. Students learn duties and responsibilities of first aid rescuers; first aid actions for medical emergencies, including severe choking, heart attack, and stroke; and skills for handling injury and environmental emergencies, including external bleeding, broken bones and sprains, and bites and stings. This is a four hour course that maybe stand alone or combined with a CPR/AED course for a full 8 hour day of training that fulfills OSHA workplace requirements.

Heart Safe Community

In a cooperative effort, the NH Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, the NH Department of Health & Human Services, and the American Heart Association established the “New Hampshire HeartSafe Communities Program”.

The primary goal of the program is to increase survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Individual communities can develop and implement lifesaving networks that focus on coordinating local resources to prevent sudden cardiac arrest from becoming sudden cardiac death. Group efforts involving individuals, businesses, public officials and emergency responder agencies can establish a cardiac arrest response system to make the difference between life and death.

The towns of Lincoln and Woodstock have been recognized as 2 of the 19 Heart Safe towns in the state who have achieved this status. The state uses statistics such as: the number of AED’s (Automated External Defibrillators) and the number of CPR trained citizens per population, and the availability of Advanced Life Support on the ambulance as criteria. Much credit is due to the businesses that have purchased this life saving machine and trained their employees, also the individuals who have taken a CPR class taught by Linwood Ambulance Service.

The Heart Safe Community ceremony was held at the New Hampshire State House on February 17, 2012. Governor Lynch; Commissioner John Barthelmes, Department of Safety; Director Perry Plummer, New Hampshire Fire Standards, Training and EMS; Chief Clay Odell, Bureau of EMS; William Wood, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator; and Nancy Pederzini from the American Heart Association were present to honor the receiving towns.
